"It’s like I’m reading a book, and it’s a book I deeply love. But I’m reading it slowly now. So the words are really far apart and the spaces between the words are almost infinite. I can still feel you, and the words of our story, but it’s in this endless space between the words that I’m finding myself now. It’s a place that’s not of the physical world. It’s where everything else is that I didn’t even know existed. I love you so much. But this is where I am now. And this who I am now. And I need you to let me go. As much as I want to, I can’t live your book any more."
my activity has flatlined - how appropriate
Anonymous asked: what does poetry do for you?
poetry acts as a means for me to understand my emotional world. specifically, i feel as though i reach a level of comprehension when i complete a poem i see as complete, one i couldn’t reach otherwise. this is difficult to express in words, the subtleties of one’s emotional realm. there are emotional experiences we have for which we do not have words. metaphor, i believe, captures that meaning. an analogy reflects emotional tensions without being specific - it recreates a feeling you couldn’t describe otherwise
poetry honestly does so much more for me, but i think that’s it’s main function. what a difficult question
going to see st. vincent next saturday. unbelievably pumped.
then tops in chicago two weeks later!!!!!!!!!!
i’ll never forget the day my younger brother, overzealous in his effort to play, stomped on a baby lizard. i cried the entire ride home
